Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

DraftIt ("we", "our", "the app") is a student productivity application that helps you convert lecture audio into structured notes, generate exam practice questions, and build AI-optimized resumes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

In short: Your notes, recordings, and resume data are tied to your account and stored securely. We never sell your data, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (via Firebase Authentication or Google Sign-In). We never store your raw password — Firebase handles this securely using industry-standard encryption.

Audio Recordings: When you use the Voice-to-Notes feature, your lecture audio is temporarily processed to generate transcripts and structured notes. Audio files are sent to our AI processing partner (Groq) for transcription and are not permanently stored on our servers after processing.

Notes & Academic Data: Notes, exam questions, syllabus progress, and study materials you create are stored securely in your account, scoped privately to your user ID.

Career & Resume Data: Information you enter into your Master Profile (work experience, education, skills, certifications, projects) and any job descriptions you paste are used solely to generate your personalized resumes. This data is stored locally on your device and synced to your private cloud account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your personal data for advertising, and we do not sell your information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

DraftIt relies on the following trusted services to function:

These providers process data only as needed to deliver the requested feature and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Firebase's secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Locally on your device, certain data (like your resume profile and exam questions) is cached using encrypted local storage for offline access and is scoped exclusively to your signed-in account — switching accounts on the same device never exposes another user's data.

5. Your Rights and Choices

6. Children's Privacy

DraftIt is intended for students aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of DraftIt after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
